• How did you use Evernote and the Evernote Web Clipper to support your work in this course?
  • What other uses for your PKB did you develop as you got more comfortable with Evernote?
  • Describe your PKB's organizational scheme. How many notebooks have your created? What (if any) tags are your using? What uses (if any) have you discovered for note links?
  • Describe at least one metacognitive protocol that YOU develop to augment your current thinking. This could be a study strategy that you have adapted, a way to organize your research, or so other way of organizing your new knowledge for writing, planning, etc. The also be strategy that you think would be useful for you (or others) for some future purpose.
  • How do you think that viewing your notes as a lasting resource might affect how you participate in future courses.

At first when i installed evernote on my computer, I didn't understand it or feel the need to use it, and it only frustrated me. Once we spent more time in class playing around with it, and learning how to use it, I decided to give it a try. Evernote and Evernote Web Clipper were extremely helpful when it came to the context report, and final project. Instead of trying to remember the link, or bookmark the page, all I had to do was add it to Evernote, and then go back to it when I needed to. It's easy to find my work on Evernote, and I like how i can highlight certain parts of documents on Evernote, and then when I need to go back to it, the highlight is still there so I know exactly what I need to look at.
As I got more comfortable with Evernote, I used it for other classes. For my writing class we can to do a big research project, which required a lot of information and documents. It was helpful to create a new notebook for the project, and just keep all of my information in there. It kept my work organized, and gave me access to everything I needed.
I only have two notebooks in my PKB, one for EDC 102H, and one for WRT 104. I tried adding tags to documents, but i ended up using the same tags all the time which was not helpful, so I stopped using them. I do title everything in my notebooks though, which helps me more than tags do. My PKB is set up where my most recent documents start and the top and work their way down to the oldest documents. I also have my PKB set up so I can see the title of every note i have.
One strategy that I have learned is to save every link, or document a professor gives me. No matter how long ago a professor gave me something, it is smart to save it because they can go back to it, or I might need it for an assignment. For our class, EDC 102H, I put every link we're given into Evernote, because we talk about it in class, and then I add my own notes to the document. I helps me become a better student, and more organized and prepared for any assignment that comes my way.
Viewing my notes as a lasting resource, will increase my participation in future classes. It will keep me more alert in class, because I know that these notes will benefit me, and always be there. Since adding notes to Evernote means I can keep them forever, I will take more detailed notes, and pay more attention to the quality and quantity of information given to me.
